It was all hail for the 10th annual Sri Raghavendra Chitravani Awards on Sunday evening at The Bell Hotel. The event also coincided with the 34th year existence of the prestigious film news transmitting house.

The present KFCC President Basanthkumar Patil wished that Sri Raghavendra Chitravani should grow to the level of the Oscar awards while the former President of KFCC Dr Jayamala felt the happiness looking at a film awards evening that is similar to the national film awards.

The 10th annual Sri Raghavendra Chitravani took off to a magnificent ‘Hari Nama Smarane’ from Sangeetha Katti Kulkarni who mixed the Hindustani and classical in her song. Prior to it Sridhar Sagar classical Saxophone was a treat to hear.

As usual it was a splendid anchoring of the awards evening from Smt Aparna – the measuring of words and sweet rendering of it was on top from Smt Aparna.

Here goes the 10th annual Sri Raghavendra Chitravani Awards evening highlight.

• Took off at 6.40 pm the dais was seated by KFCC President Basanthkumar Patil, Dr Jayamala and Dr Srinath. All the three lighted the lamp.
• One minute silence was observed for the demise of BM Venkatesh, producer and actor who passed away recently. His son Arun received the honor on the evening.
• DG Venkatesh alias Sudheendra Venkatesh in his welcome address thanked KFCC President for making it despite of tight schedule, Dr Srinath was in Australia when I called up and after this function he is leaving to USA, it is a great honor to see him as chief guest and Dr Jayamala is like our family member. I am honored by all those who are present today.
• Veteran journalist BN Subramanya recalled days of three decades ago. The personalities Vishukumar, Narasimha of his days. For those who love and hate him Subbanna thanked and felt unhappy with the recent developments taking place in the Kannada cinema industry.
• Ganesh Kasargod known for straightforward approach explained the significance of awards and how he has guarded the awards he has received with the help of his wife Smt Gayathri. How 80 percent of the award winners pack it in ‘Atta’ Ganesh Kasargod had seen in his career spanning over 30 years. Respecting this kind of award I also safeguard it he said. DVS was in my mind and heart. Now he will be in my house too disclosed Ganesh Kasargod.

• DC Nagesh received Sri Mallappa award for his long service. But surprisingly KM Veeresh did not turn for the first time in the last so many years.

• SV Rajendra Sing Babu this is the award that is selected without any influence. An award always alerts me. He recalled the DVS style of work that he praised when he was in Mumbai.

• Receiving the award in the presence of Grandmother Smt Sharadamma Narasimharaju is memorable said Jugari Aravind. It was nostalgic for Aravind because he began the shoot of Jugari at The Bell Hotel and received an award for that film.
• Bangalore Nagesh thanked for identifying and honoring him. I don’t know any of the current artists he said but he received the honor from Kichcha Sudeep. He did not even know which award and who is giving it.
• Dr Srinath, chief guest on this occasion remembered DVS and the friend of him coming to the event shows how good the man was. Jayanthi, Bharathi, Jayamala Ivrenella Nodidre Santosha Aguthe. I am leaving to USA and back on 24 June. I am happy for looking at all of you said Pranayaraja Srinath.
• Dr Bharathi Vishnuvardhana remembered the days of DVS. Venkatesh is continuing the legacy. Each year award evening is like piling up a brick for the house. It is not such easy to conduct this kind of function.
• Jayanthi in her address disclosed that she is like family member of DVS. Let the affection continue like this. This year identification of personalities is good.
